Following on from the Government announcement of a new three-tier COVID-19 alert system which sets out information for local authorities and their residents in relation to managing the virus, Basketball England can confirm that we are able to continue indoor training and competitive basketball across the Government levels as set out below.

Since our club falls in the Junior Training U18's category, we remain OPEN FOR TRAINING.  Please see brief clarification of the new three-tier system or follow this link to Basketball England website for further information.

 Level 1 - Medium

  • Elite competition and training – BBL, WBBL, NBL Division One, WNBL Division One, U18 Premier Men & Women, EABL, WEABL, BUCS (RTP Level 2). Elite level is defined by government and detailed in Appendix 5 of the RTP document HERE
  • Junior competition and training – Jnr. NBL and local league for U18s and younger (RTP Level 2)
  • Non-elite senior training and competition in bubbles of up to six people (RTP Level 2 but with six-person limit)

Level 2/3 - High/Very High

  • Elite competition and training – BBL, WBBL, NBL Division One, WNBL Division One, U18 Premier Men & Women, EABL, WEABL, BUCS (RTP Level 2). Elite level is defined by government and detailed in Appendix 5 of the RTP document HERE

  • Non-elite seniors can only train indoors with members of their households or support bubbles. No competition is permitted

Level 3 – Travel Guidance

The Government is advising people not to travel into or out of an area if it has been categorised as a Very High alert level area. However, for the indoor sports exemptions for elite, disability and under 18s, you can travel for the sole purposes of playing basketball within Covid secure environments.

With the announcement from the Prime Minister on 22 September, indoor Under-18s basketball and senior elite basketball remain exempt from the ‘rule of six’ social distancing restrictions. Click here for the latest update and information. Therefore in preparation for our return to training, I have listed some information that I believe you should be aware of and some action required on your part before your child can attend.  Please read these carefully and ensure you understand them in order that we can follow the guidelines and keep everyone safe and well.

  • Start of Training Sunday 4th October.
    • Age   7-12: Start Time 15:00-16:30.
    • Age 13-17: Start Time 16:30-18:00.
  • Basketball England Membership / Renewal:  Every player needs to sign-up or renew their membership with Basketball England in order to be insured. Players without a valid BE membership will not be allowed to take part in any of the clubs activities.  To renew your child's membership, please follow this Membership-Renewal link. New members will need to register and follow this New Member link.
  • Training Fee Direct Debit Payment: For obvious reasons, cash payment for training sessions will NOT BE ACCEPTED at the door. A £15 monthly direct debit payment will be our new method of payment and this must be setup prior to starting. This is equivalent to £5 per session. Bank details will be provided on request.
  • All participants must be aware of the COVID-19 Screening Document. (Appendix-3).
  • All participants must read the COVID-19 Risk Information Sheet. (Appendix-4).

    • Arrive ready to play with your basketball, water bottle and any other clothing/footwear required. There will be no access to water or a changing room. Toilets will be available outside the sports hall.
    • You will be asked a few short screening questions about your health and who you have been in contact with. We will then take your temperature with a non-contact infra-red body thermometer.
    • You will be given an instruction to enter the sports hall and be asked to clean your hands and your basketball before entering the playing area & regularly throughout the session.
    • When you enter the playing area, no warm up shooting will be permitted until a coach guides you to your allocated sitting area to place your bag and water bottle.
  • Session:
    • Teams will do drills, skills and team base training. 5x5 play is permitted.
    • Non playing players must return and sit at their allocated area.
    • Parents or guardians may have to be asked to wait outside if the numbers inside the venue (max 30 people) are not able to be sustained for reasonable social distancing reasons.

  • At The End of Session:
    • All participants must leave the venue immediately through a separate exit door at the back of the sports hall. Returning parents must wait outside the exit door at the back of the sports hall to collect their child.  No congregating in the carpark.
    • Coaches will clean all equipment before the start of the 13-17 age group session.
    • The next group must not enter the sports hall before their session starts and should wait outside until asked to do so. The 2 meters social distancing must be adhered to at all times while waiting.
